The Secret of the Effortless Golf Swing

Swing the club head.....good instruction??

"Swing the club head" is a phrase heard from time to time in golf instruction. What does it really mean? Let's examine.

In order to swing the club head, you first have to feel the club head. To do so, your grip has to be light and the golf club should be gripped in the fingers.

So first, this concept helps you to grip the golf club properly.

In order to control the club head during the golf swing, you would have to balance the club head as you swing the club. An out of balance club with this method would not come back to the golf ball.

In order to balance the golf club during the golf swing, you would have to be balanced.

So, this concept helps with the overall balance of the golf swing.

If you concentrate on the position of the club head during the golf swing, you would be less likely to allow your body to get to far in front of it during the downswing.

So, that would help with timing.
Since you would have to wait for the club head to change directions and come back to impact, your golf swing would not be too fast.

Is this a great golf instruction system? It has its drawbacks.

Because this golf instruction is based on the club head it is possible to get disconnected during the golf swing. That is not a bad thing because the timing factor will bring you back to the golf ball squarely, but disconnection in this case will rob you of power.

Also it is possible to make this golf swing completely with the upper body, which leaves out a major power source in the swing.

The conclusion is that "swinging the club head" has many merits. I prefer to make best use of this golf instruction by combining it with the modern golf swing.

The modern golf swing emphasizes the use of the big muscles in the body for power and consistency but it is easy to get caught up in the power end and lose all sense of timing and feel.

My suggestion is to add the thought of feeling the club head to your present golf swing to improve your feel and timing, but maintain a modern golf swing for power and consistency.

It will help your touch for in-between golf shots.
